- AquAdvantage Bred salmon, bred by Aqua Bounty Farms in December 1997 and sacrificed in July 2000. The fish is a sibling of 2005-76/1, but does not contain the transgene. Growth hormone is only produced by the pituitary gland during the growing season, so the fish is smaller.;These salmon were siblings. The top, larger one was the first GM animal approved for consumption. Engineered with an added growth hormone, it grew all year round – unlike its smaller sibling, a regular Atlantic salmon, which just grew in spring and summer.;AquAdvantage Bred salmon, bred by Aqua Bounty Farms in December 1997 and sacrificed in July 2000.
