Description
A flat-based, rectangular burden basket. Root strip bundle coil over-sewn with root skin, with tucked overlay (imbrication) design in red cherry bark. This basket shows a great deal of wear. The holes at the rim are evidence that straps are attached, for carrying the basket slung over the back.

This was collected by Edgar Dewdney in the late 19th/ early 20th century. Dewdney’s wife bequeathed the item to RAMM in 1927.

This object is on display at RAMM in the World Cultures gallery.
